The Whitefish Point Lighthouse Station is home of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, a world-class maritime museum contained within the grounds of a working Lake Superior Lighthouse. Your tour includes time in the Shipwreck Theater, museum gallery, living quarters and lighthouse tower. One of the better known artifacts in the museum gallery is the ship’s bell from the ill-fated lake freighter Edmund Fitzgerald, which sank just 17 miles from Whitefish Point on November 10, 1975. Looking out into the sapphire colored water of Lake Superior will give you chills. Exceptional exhibits of shipwreck artifacts, artwork and shipwreck models are on display. The famous Whitefish Point Light Tower is open for tours. Distance: 69 miles
